ISU Drives Workforce Readiness with Stellar Performance in Science Park Talent Development Program

ISU delivered an outstanding performance in the “Science Park Talent Development Program” in Academic Year 2026, securing approval for three main project grants alongside one alternate selection. The remarkable result highlights the university’s robust achievements in interdisciplinary integration, industry-university collaboration, and talent cultivation. In response to key industry trends, including semiconductors, smart manufacturing, and global supply chain restructuring, ISU actively advances modularized, hands-on, and industry-oriented curricula. By deepening its talent links with the Southern Taiwan Science Park and the Southern Taiwan Technology Corridor, ISU aligns higher education seamlessly with evolving industrial demands to cultivate future-ready professionals.

The three selected main projects include the “Science Park Internship Program for PCB Integration into Semiconductor Manufacturing,” the “Science Park Quality Assurance and Quality Control Professional Talent Development Modular Program,” and the “Science Park Customs, Port, and Trade Logistics Talent Development Program.” Spanning critical domains such as semiconductor process integration, quality management, and smart logistics, these initiatives respond directly to the urgent talent demands of modern industry. Led by Dr. Chia-Jung Cho from the Department of Chemical Engineering, the “Science Park Internship Program for PCB Integration into Semiconductor Manufacturing” focuses on the integration of semiconductor and PCB manufacturing processes. In collaboration with industry partners, the program incorporates practical training in semiconductor packaging substrates. It aims to develop students’ expertise in material analysis, process technology, AI applications, and sustainable manufacturing, thereby seamlessly bridging academia with industry and boosting graduates’ competitive edge. Meanwhile, the “Science Park Quality Assurance and Quality Control Professional Talent Development Modular Program,” headed by Dr. Jason Chen from the Department of Medical Laboratory Science, integrates standardized quality management workflows with testing technology training. Partnering with the branch of Taiwan Euroma Co., Ltd. in Southern Taiwan Science Park, the program provides hands-on learning in GMP-compliant

environments. By leveraging students’ expertise in clinical lab quality management, it cultivates high-caliber QA/QC professionals, narrows the skill gap, and opens up diverse career pathways. Led by Dr. Su-Li Lin from the Department of International Business, the “Science Park Customs, Port, and Trade Logistics Talent Development Program” integrates resources across international business, customs, and logistics. Through mechanisms such as dual-instructor co-teaching, professional certification coaching, and corporate internships, the program cultivates professionals equipped with practical competencies in smart logistics as well as customs, port, and trade operations. This initiative not only enhances students’ hands-on capabilities but also helps enterprises strengthen their competitive edge in global supply chains. Additionally, the “AI-Driven Smart Manufacturing and Digital Mechatronics Integration” project, led by Dr. Chung-Kun Yen from the Department of Mechanical and Automation Engineering, was selected as a designated alternate. Centered on industry needs, this initiative integrates core technologies across artificial intelligence, smart manufacturing, mechatronic control, and digital transformation. Through industry-university collaboration, corporate visits, co-teaching with industry experts, project-based learning, and corporate internships, the program cultivates students’ interdisciplinary integration and problem-solving capabilities, feeding skilled talent into the talent pipeline for smart manufacturing while driving industrial upgrading and aligning education with industry practice.


Overall, these project outcomes fully demonstrate ISU’s capacity for industry-driven curriculum design and its robust industry-university collaboration framework. Through a systematic teaching structure and a practical-oriented training model, the University creates an empowering learning environment where students “learn by doing, apply as they learn, and transition seamlessly into employment upon graduation,” ultimately boosting their workplace competitiveness and driving broader contributions to the industry.

Multiple faculty members have also been selected for the prestigious “World’s Top 2% Scientists” list, demonstrating the University’s exceptional research energy and international academic influence.
